Boxers belong to the breed of hunting dogs. They get along with other pets very well but they enjoy chasing other dogs and people. Most have smooth and short hair and are fawn and brindle in color. The boxer breed is good-natured and are very loyal to their master. Boxers have a playful nature so they would have to have activities to be a part of and they are great with kids. Because they are so playful they can get bored allowing them to become easily curious. You need to be aware of the costs that go along with breeding boxers if you want to breed your boxer and also know about the several steps that you should take to begin breeding boxres. Keep scrolling below and read on to learn things to do when breeding boxers.
Step 1
Before deciding on breeding boxers, you first have to select a veterinarian. In case of emergency you will need a vet to take care of your boxer.
Step 2
You boxer should often be checked by the vet. By taking your dog to the vet you can have confirmed that your boxer is healthy, which is important. It is important to have your boxer x-rayed and tested for things like hip displasia and thyroid problems and also to have complete all the proper immunizations along with a certification for heart health form the veterinary's board of cardiologists.
Step 3
For your boxer you need to choose a mate that is a great companion. If you choose to use your female boxer for breeding, be sure to find a healthy male boxer that will have a good reputation and temperament. You will often find that male boxers, also known as studs, will be used by other breeders when breeding boxers if he has a good reputation. To get a stud for your female boxer you will see it will cost somewhere between $800 to $1000. Because you have to pay so much the boxer should be confident and in good health. You need to be sure also that this male boxer has good looks and that he is not aggressive.
Step 4
Before getting started you should determine the amount you are willing to spend to keep your boxer healthy. You will need to be sure that when you are breeding a female boxer you make frequent and regular vet visits, most importantly when the delivery date is nearing.$40 to $50 is the normal cost for a typical check-up at the vet.Estimating a cost for the puppies during and after birth is also something to come up with. Ears cropped and tails docked is something the puppies will need to have done eventually. For each pup that will usually cost you around $500 or more.
Step 5
Do not forget to register your boxer puppies with America Kennel Club (AKC) so that they will be official boxers. When selling your boxer puppies, you need to have health records and AKC certificate. Before you sell your puppies be sure that your adult boxer is AKC registered and if it is not you will need to have that completed.
Boxer Breeding Warnings and Tips
To ensure your boxer has really good health it may be a good idea to check for worms and brucillosis.
The boxer you choose should not have health issues if you plan to use it for breeding, this is because the pups will inherit those same problems.
