Dog Training At Home

It is so fun and enjoying to have a pet dog around. But when your pet starts to show some behavioral problems, he can become an annoying and irritable creature in your house. This is the main reason why there is a need for dog training.

Various dog behaviors are displayed because of instinct. However, no matter how strong the instinct is, dogs can control them when they are properly trained and rewarded. The main communication between you and your dog must be all about obedience. It must be clear in his head that you are the master and he must obey you. To correct your dog behavior problems, he must clearly understand the meaning of the word "NO".

Here are situations when your dog needs to hear and understand when you say a firm "NO":

Say no for being too aggressive. Give time for your dog to socialize. Excessive dog barking should not be tolerated. Correct him immediately or he will get used to it.

Say no for biting and chewing valuables. Your dog must identify chewable and non-chewable items. Chewable toys are available in pet shops for dog training.

Say no for chasing moving things like cars, cats, joggers, and etc. Train your pet not to focus his attention on preys but on more interesting things such as treats and toys.

Say no for begging. Let your dog know his regular feeding time and play time as part of his dog training.

Say no for digging trash and holes. Discourage your dog from doing this as early as possible. Keep him busy with other things like chewing his favorite toys.

Say no for jumping on people. Avoid eye contact with your dog when you arrive home. Ignore him every time he jumps so he will get the message that it does not get your attention.

Say no for eating stool. Remove stool as soon as released. That way he will learn that stools are not for eating.

Strongly using the word "NO" is part of dog training. You should reward your dog with a treat every time he obeys you. Dogs are easy to please but difficult to correct when tolerated with their annoying behavior.
