If your puppy is not learning a command take a break and come back to it later. Also training sessions should be short - 15 minutes or less.

5. Train your dog in several places. If you keep your dogs in a certain place like your home, he or she will not be able to adjust with the various environments and new people. Take your hound to the park or through the neighborhood. Take your puppy everywhere you can - let your dog get comfortable with meeting strangers (especially children). This will help your puppy associate with other dogs and people. In addition, dogs will associate certain behaviors with their commands. For example, many dogs will sit and stay at a group obedience class, but will suddenly lose their manners when a visitor rings the doorbell. Introducing your canine to an assortment of locations will guarantee good manners at all times.

Training your dog can be tough, but it will be worth it. Just remember to be patient, persistent and positive! In the end, you will be the one to benefit when your dog is trained.
