The Working dogs were developed for a variety of jobs, including guarding

property, guarding livestock, or pulling carts. These include the Alaskan

Malamute, Siberian Husky, Bernese Mountain Dogs and others.

The Terrier dogs were developed mainly to hunt vermin and rodents and to dig

them from their burrows or dens. These come in various sizes, from the small

Cairn Terrier to the large Airedale Terrier.

The Toy dogs are small companion breeds that include the Toy Poodles,

Chihuahua,Toy Spaniels, Miniature Pinscher and others. The Toy Group make up

for their small size with their big personalities.These are well suited for

older or disabled people, because they are easier to look after, as they eat

less and need less exercise. Usually, small dog breeds are just ten inches or

less tall at the shoulder. In most breeds, the male is slightly larger than

the female, but the difference is generally small.This is referred to as

breeding true.

The Non-Sporting dogs that do not fit into any of the other groups, are

usually larger than Toy dogs. These include the Miniature Poodles, Boston

Terrier, Bichon Frises and others.

For those who suffer from allergies, a Hypoallergenic dog is a breed that

might enable them to have a pet in their home. Some dog breeds have been

considered as hypoallergenic, such as the Yorkshire Terrier and the Afghan

Hound whose is the same pH as human hair, therefore, creating no threat. Some

other good breed choices for those who have allergies are the Soft-Coated

Wheaten Terrier...Bichon Frisé...Shih Tzu...Bolognese...Poodle...Barbet...

Portuguese Water Dogs...Schnauzer...Maltese. These dogs shed very little of

their hair. However, they do produce dander, but the amount is so small that

very few people experience allergy symptoms when in contact with these breeds.

Hypoallergenic dog breeds are usually single-coated, non-shedding (or low-

shedding), and generally smaller dogs.

Who doesn't love a friendly dog? They're cute, lovable and make for a great companion, unless you have asthma and allergies related to dogs. 

If you have a asthma caused by allergies and are considering getting a dog, there's several things you should consider before welcoming the four legged canine into your family. 

To start with, you need to know that there's no dog breed that is one hundred percent hypoallergenic. That means that if you have allergies and asthma triggered by pet dander, there's no breed that is going to be completely safe for you to get. That's because all dogs create dander, however there are some breeds that create produce less than others. 

Before you take home any dog, take some time to visit a breeder so you can spend time with the dog you're thinking about bringing into your family. By spending time with the dog, you can see if it causes any problems before you actually get the dog. It would be a lot better to spend a short amount of time now with the dog, then to discover six months later that you have to give it away because you can't live with the dog. 

If you still want to go through and get a dog, the best breeds have no hair at all or just a single coat. I put together a lot of some of the best dogs for people with allergies and asthma. It is by no means a definitive list. There's some breeds on this list that might cause you specifically problems, and other breeds on this list that won't cause you any allergy problems. 

American Hairless Terrier -This breed is actually considered an excellent choice for people with allergy problems. That's because it doesn't have any hair and little to no dander. 

Bedlington, Terrier -The Bedlington Terrier is a described as a dog with the heart of a lion, but looks like a lamb. Took a look at their pictures pictures, you'll to agree that it really does look like a sheep. 

Bichon Friese - This a white or cream colored breed, known to be friendly and is literally described as a charming puffball. 

Chinese Crested - There's two varieties of this breed. One only has hair around it's feet, head and tail. The other has a full coat coat, but both varieties can come from the same litter. 

Kerry Blue Terrier - This is another well built, muscular medium sized dog. It's black at birth, but the coat changes color to a dark blue shade to a slate blue or light gray as it becomes an adult. 

Maltese - It's hard to miss the Maltese. It has long, white hair that can grow to to nine inches long. 

Peruvian Inca Orchid - It's another hairless dog and has a very soft skin. 

Poodle - This is often the first breed that people think of when they think of a breed that would be good for asthma. There's toy poodle which is under ten inches at it's shoulder. The miniature poodle which is between 10 and 15 inches tall. The standard poodle is over 15 inches. 

Portuguese Water Dog - This breed is hardy and muscular, medium sized dog. It has a single-layered, non-shedding coat that is virtually hypoallergenic. 

Schnauzer - The schnauzer is a tiny, square proportioned dog with a long head, bush beard, mustache and eyebrows. 

Shih Tzu - The name comes from the Mandarin language for lion dog. It's a small, yet sturdy dog with an ample amount of fur. 

Yorkshire Terrier - This dog has very long, fine and silky fur. The puppies are generally black and tan, while the adults are mostly tan.

Overview

The Coton is connected to the French Bichons and the Italian Bolognese. It is believed that they came to Madagascar with French troops, and was almost unknown until they were reintroduced to Europe and America. The Coton has been a prized companion dog of the rich people of Tulear in the southern part of Madagascar. Although this breed is still fairly uncommon, they are very popular with the Madagascar rich people.

Temperament

The Coton de Tulear is attentive and protective of its owners and families, and will form very strong bonds with them. They will alert them to danger by barking, but only when it is really required. This is a very intelligent breed that will take all the attention and affection they can get. The Coton is very social dog and will enjoy all outings and experiences with its family. The Coton de Tulear dogs get along well with children and other animals.

Care

The Coton De Tulear is a high maintenance dog when it comes to grooming, and their long coats needs a daily brushing. It is important that all dead hairs should be combed out. The excess hair in the inner ears and between the pads should also be removed. These dogs do not have to be bathed more than two times during the year, and their coats must not be cut with scissors. This breed sheds almost no hair, and is ideal for people having problems with allergies.

Training

Coton de Tulears are highly trainable, but they do have a tendency to be somewhat headstrong and obstinate. These dogs are very endearing and want to please their owners. All of this makes them open to positive training methods that include praise and small rewards. This breed is quick to learn both good and bad habits and have a natural talent for performing tricks. The Coton de Tulear is an ideal obedience and agility dog, and they love competition and being the centre of attraction. These dogs need consistent training and obedience classes.

Health problems

The Coton De Tulear is one of the healthiest dog breeds of dogs, and they have no known health problems. In the United States all dogs must complete a blood chemistry test as well as general health test to meet the criteria for breeding status in the Coton de Tulear registry. These exams look for conditions such as cherry eye, progressive retinal atrophy, patellar luxation and canine hip dysplasia.

Pomeranians are great. They are a fantastic dog with a great personality, and are perfect for cuddling up on the couch with you, playing fetch in the yard, and expressing extreme interest in anything you say in a baby voice.

They really are a perfect breed. So how can this fuzzy little dog be improved upon, then? Well, some think the only thing left to do is make the dog smaller. If you're in that boat, you'll be quite excited to hear about the Pomeranian teacup! It's all the great qualities of the regular Pom, rolled up into a "fun-sized" package.

If you're thinking about buying one of these fuzzy little dogs, already own one, or just enjoy reading about them - this article will provide you with many important facts, and should help answer any questions you might have. It's important to be informed about any "buying decision" (or adoption decision in this case!), and bringing home a living creature which you must care for is absolutely no different.

Now, it should be pointed out that there is no official recognition, by the AKC or anyone else, of a Pomeranian teacup. Hence, there is no "official" definition of exactly what size a teacup dog must be. Assuming they are a normal weight, these dogs normally range from 7 lbs on the small-side, up to 15 pounds or more on the large end. A Pomeranian teacup is generally 5 pounds or less full-grown. Some extra-small teacups can be as small as 3 pounds!

All the size means is that they were bred down successfully to very tiny dogs. They are physically no different - they're just smaller. These are not the "midgets" of the dog world, and there is nothing on their body that is different. The proportions are exactly they same; they just don't grow to be quite as large due to genetics.

If you're wanting one of these dogs for your own, you can start looking anywhere you might seek out a full-sized dog: From the newspaper or Craigslist, directly from breeders, or from a pet store. Ask the usual questions about the dog, and treat the "interview" process just like you would when buying any other dog.

However, there is one factor to keep in mind. Since puppies are all quite small, it's very difficult to determine exactly how large the dog will be fully grown. Since there is no official definition of a teacup, many breeders will simply use this as a "marketing term" to sell the dog and draw attention to their ads. Even if the dog will grow up to be a whopping 16 pounds, they can still technically use the term. This means you need to do a little work to watch your back.

Generally speaking, a teacup Pomeranian will grow to be about the same size as its parents, so ask to meet the puppy's biological mother and father. Size them up, and make sure they both really are "teacups". This is also a great chance to check the health of the parents, and see if there are any health issues that run in the blood lines (such as low-blood sugar and severe joint problems).

Health issues aren't a huge concern with Pomeranian teacups, but they may be more at risk for some issues. The biggest problem is sudden death due to organ failure, but that usually happens at a relatively young age and is genetic. If you ask to meet the parents, and they both seem healthy, there is likely nothing to worry about.

If the dog is an incredibly small female (4 to 5 pounds or less), breeding may not be an option - meaning you should have a spay done as soon as possible. Giving birth could easily kill these tiny dogs, since they aren't nearly as strong as regular Poms.

There's a lot to consider when adopting any dog, and the size-factor just serves to make things more confusing. Hopefully this article will have given you a place to start from, and will have answered some of the more basic questions you might have.
