Different Breed Of Dogs
Man invents chastity belt for dogs
A LOUISIANA man has come up with an unorthodox alternative to spaying and neutering dogs, MyFox National reported.

The Boxer dog is a German developed breed and is part of the Molosser group. It was derived from two or more Mastiff type dogs, the now extinct Bullenbeisser and the English bulldog. These ancestors of the Boxer had been used to hunt boar, bear and deer for centuries as well as for bull baiting when it became a sport. The boxer was stabilised and exhibited as a breed in its own right in Munich in 1895 and the first Boxer club was founded a year later.

The breed was introduced across Europe in the late 19th century and to America at the turn of the century. The American kennel club recognised the first boxer champion in 1915 but the breed was not register t o the British kennel club until 1933. This breed is a stocky, medium sized, short haired dog, with a smooth fawn or brindled coat, sometimes with white markings. It has a square muzzle and very strong jaw. It also shows a high level of intelligence and is quick to learn.

The name ‘Boxer’ is thought by many to have derived form the tendency the breed has to fight standing on its hind legs and boxing with its front paws, but this is unlikely as the breed was German so therefore not likely to be given such an anglicised name. There are many other theories about the origins of the name which linguistic scientists have debated. Perhaps one of the more likely explanations is that the Bullenbeisser breed was also known as the ‘Boxl’ and Boxer is simply a corruption of that word.

During World War I the Boxer was used by the military and did valuable work as a messenger dog, guard dog, pack carrier and attack dog. But it was not until after the Second World War that the Boxer became popular around the world. They were taken home by returning soldiers and soon became a favorite companion, guard dog and show dog. By 2002 the Boxer was the seventh most popular breed in the USA with around 35,000 new registrations a year.

While Boxers are typically fawn in colour with a white underbelly and feet, around a quarter of Boxers are born completely white. This variety has a higher risk of sunburn and skin cancers than coloured Boxers. The gene which is responsible for producing white Boxers is also linked to deafness and around 20% of this variety is deaf in both ears. In the past breeders often euthanized white Boxers at birth and today many are put in pet homes. White Boxers are also disqualified from conformation showing and prohibited from breeding by all national Boxer clubs.

Boxers are energetic and playful and good with families and children. They need to be trained early as they have strong personalities which can be harder to train when older. They have a slight reputation of being difficult to manage which is a result of poor obedience training at a young age. Their intelligence and working breed characteristics mean than they respond well to positive reinforcement techniques such as clicker training. Boxers do have a long adolescence and are not fully mature until two to three years old which is why they need early training to keep their high energy from wearing out the owner. While the breed is not aggressive or vicious they can be over-protecting, territorial and dominating which can lead to a problem with destructive behavior especially in male dogs. They need socialisation, companionship and exercise to counteract these traits.

Boxers are prone to develop various illnesses including cancers, heart conditions and intestinal problems. Responsible breeders screen their breeding stock in an attempt to minimise the occurrence of these diseases in future generations. Proper exercise and conditioning is important for continued health but young dogs should not be over exercised as this may damage bones. Once fully grown Boxers are excellent running companions although they do not do well in high heat or humidity so care should be taken in these conditions.

Different Breed Of Dogs

Dogs Training

Dogs toilet training is essentially the same as puppy toilet training with few minor differences. One of the most important is the fact that older dogs will be able to hold urine for up to 8 hours while puppies need to eliminate 15 -20 minutes after the last meal. Because of the fact that older dogs are more reliable when it comes to control their bladder and colon you can let them outside more regularly than puppies. It's useful to decide for specific times during the day when you allow your dog to eliminate.

1. How Different Is Toilet Training Older Dogs? While working with mature dogs that have been adopted one needs to remember that they might feel uncomfortable in the new environment. In this case dogs toilet training might take a little longer as the dog has already developed some bad habits that you'll have to get rid of first. What is more, new food and drinks, new people and new surroundings will get him stressed and he might end up making a mess indoors. It is crucial not to punish your dog as this will only make things worse. Screaming at him will only make him confused. Dogs are not able to connect mentally the wet carpet with the fact of eliminating on it few minutes ago. So be patient and consistent with the dogs toilet training and you'll get the best results.

2. Provide Your Pet With His Own Leaving Area. It is usually recommended to create a 'den' where your dog can eat, drink and sleep safely and comfortably. This can either be crate or a small part of the room you sleep in. Put something that is familiar to the dog inside (for example one of your old t-shirts) and try to organize a sleeping area out of it. Plenty of toys would also help as we're trying to make the dog busy while your away. This is a very important part of dogs toilet training.

Dogs are naturally clean animals and they will not soil their own sleeping areas if not forced to by circumstances. Check on your dog from time to time and comfort him if he's whining. Also, make sure he's not walking in circles or sniffing around as this means that the elimination time has come and he needs to get outside.

With the flow of time broaden your pet's den or move the crate to another rooms so that he can get familiar with the rest of the house. Hopefully, your dog will remember that he's not allowed to eliminate in the house and will try to signal his physiological needs.

3. Take Your Dog On A Short Walk. What can also help in dogs toilet training are regular walks because movement and exercises help in speeding up the metabolism and elimination processes. As a result you will be less likely to encounter messy spots on your carpet when you get back home. If your dog has a favorite area in the yard where he eliminates, try to clean it regularly because if it gets too messy he will look for other places to urinate or defecate and might end up doing this inside your house.

4. Don't Punish Your Pet. Also, while doing dogs toilet training don't hit or scream at the dog when you find out that he has eliminated indoors. Simply clean the spot and start paying more attention to your dog's behavior as it's your duty to let him outside when he needs it.

A great place to start your research is your national canine organization. The one to examine are: American Kennel Club, UK Kennel Club and Canadian Kennel Club.

Usually the following categories to separate the different dog breeds:

Hunting Dogs (Gundogs)

Working Dogs

Utility Dogs

Terriers

Toy Dogs

Hounds

Lets take a look at these categories in depth.

Hounds were bred for their keen sense of smell and sight. Again they were used (and still are) for hunting. Dogs in this group make great pets but must have lots of exercise if you are to make them happy in your family. Well known breeds include: Daschunds, Basset Hounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Deerhounds, Beagles, Whippets and Greyhounds. You may have noticed there great variation in stature in this group.

Hunting dogs were bred originally for searching for and recovering game. Typically they are easily trainable, loyal and companionable animals. They make fantastic pets and have a idealall-round temperament which makes for easy integration into homes with children. They do often need lots of exercise and crave attention which if not given often leads to behavior difficulties. The hunting dog group can be segmented into four sub-groups: Spaniels, Hunt/Point/Retrieve, Retrievers, and Setters.

Toy dogs are the tiny companions and lap animals of the canine catagories. Althoug each dog was used for a certain use, they are placed into this group for their size. Typically, toy dogs are amicable and faithful, and need lots of care. They are intelligent and are easily over indulged as their masters can be poor on obedience due to their diminutive size. In this group are: Chihuahuas, Pugs, Papillions, Yorkshire Terriers and Poodles.

In the beginning, all terriers were used in order to hunt unwanted rodents like . They are usually small dogs, as they needed to be lower to the ground to seize the vermin and other pests that they hunted. These dogs are often brave, and intensely resolute. They are ancient forms of breeds, as far – if not further – than the Middle Ages. Today terriers are thought of as handsome dogs, butthey are better suited tomore expert dog masters because of their more aggressive temperament. Some of the terriers include: Airedale, Boston, Welsh, Border, Wire Fox, Cairn, Jack Russell, Staffordshire, Scottish, Lakeland and West Highland White and Miniature Schnauzer.

Utility dogs are a group of many many different kinds of breeds put in the same catagory because of their non sporting beginnings. They have generally been bred for a specific purpose, but, these functions are greatly varied. Here you will find breeds like: Dalmations, English Bulldogs, American Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Shih Tzus and Poodles. Breeds in this group are often the oldest breeds recorded.

Working dogs have been designed for rescuing, guarding and searching. Example breeds in this group include: Great Danes, Collies, Rottweillers, Mastiffs, Corgis, German Shepherds, Dobermanns, Old English Sheepdogs, Newfoundlands and Boxers. Often called the “champions” of the dog world, being bred to succeed at their particular job.

Having shown you more information about the different groups of dog breed and their virtues you should be able to choose a group and dog suited to you and your family.

When most people picture a Weimaraner, they picture a large, regal-looking dog with a short, gray coat. This gray is often a muted brown, giving the dog's color an overall sepia tone, like an old photograph. However, there is another coat color for Weimaraners. This color is also gray, but is richer, darker, and has beautiful undertones of blue. Whereas the standard Weimaraner's gray coat color is derivative of a brown coat, the Blue Weimaraner's coat color is a muted black with no brown hues. Blue Weimaraners range from a slate gray to a dark gunmetal color. These dogs are quite beautiful, though somewhat rare.

Many Weimaraner clubs accept this gorgeous coat variation without hesitation. Unfortunately, most large canine registries refuse to recognize the Blue Weimaraner and see its coat color, however attractive, as a flaw. Until the 1970s, this was not always the case. In '72, the American Kennel Club altered its regulations for the breed to ban Blue Weimaraners from competing in the ring, however, the American Kennel Club will allow registration of a Blue Weimaraner under certain circumstances. For instance, if both the dog's sire and dam are AKC registered, he or she can be registered with the AKC as well. The thing is, registration with the AKC doesn't imply full acceptance. Blue Weimaraners are only allowed to compete in non-breed specific competitions, such as agility trials, obedience trials, and other various competitions that are based on performance instead of appearance.

It is assumed that the Blue Weimaraner is an intentional variation of the genetic breed, as this darker coat coloration has only appeared very, very rarely when not specifically bred for. In fact, there are only two documented cases of Blue Weimaraners being born to a gray sire and gray dam in the twentieth century, the first of which was in Austria in the latter half of the '40s. A man called Captain Holt was traveling through Germany and was entranced by this different-colored dog. He purchased his new Weimaraner, imported him to the United States, and used him to sire many generations of beautiful Blue Weimaraners. This single dog is considered the primary reason for the expansion of the Weimaraner's blue coat variation in the United States. Many of the dogs sired by Captain Holt's Blue Weimaraner were champions of their breed.

Originally, when Captain Holt discovered the Blue Weimaraner, it was assumed that the blue coat gene was recessive. In previous years, studies of the genetics and breeding patterns of the Weimaraner have proved just the opposite. The genes that dictate coat color of a dog are called "alleles". The Weimaraner breed posses only two of these: blue and gray. Not all blue alleles are passed down from sire or dam to puppy, so it is possible that Weimaraners of blue parents can be born gray. However, if the puppy does inherit the blue allele, its coat color will most definitely be blue.

The Blue Weimaraner is a beautiful and impressive variation of the standard Weimaraner. Many Blue Weimaraner enthusiasts consider it very unfortunate and short-sighted that this fascinating coloration is not recognized by the American Kennel Club and other large dog registries. Fans and breeders of the Blue Weimaraner are fighting to not only ensure the health and longevity of the breed, but to have the AKC recognize the Blue Weimaraner as a valid breed in competition.

When you start looking for a Puggle, you have several options as to where to find your puppy, from a breeder to a pet store to a rescue organization.

While this may sound unlikely, you may find your best option for adopting a Puggle is a rescue organization. Not only can you find a great puppy or adult through this type of organization, but you can also rescue one who might otherwise end up in a shelter.

Many Puggles end up with rescue organizations because they were adopted for their "cuteness." While these types of dogs are extremely cute, they are also sometimes stubborn and more active than their new owners might expect. These owners often surrender theirs, either directly to rescue organizations or to shelters, because they didn't get the dog they expected.

In many cases, there is nothing really wrong with the puppy. For the most part, Puggles are energetic, fun-loving dogs, but for someone expecting a more laid-back pug, they can be a little too much dog. Sometimes they just don't work out in their new homes. This is not because they're bad dogs, or because the owners are bad people. Sometimes things don't work out in relationships, and puppy/family relationships are no different.

Knowing that Puggles can end up in shelters and rescue organizations, you have a real advantage in finding your perfect puppy. Many of these puppies can be adopted more affordably and more quickly than puppies from breeders, which means your puppy can join your family right away.

You may also find that puppies from rescue organizations are in better health than puppies straight from pet stores, because the rescues have gotten them veterinarian care and fostered them through any health problems they may have had.

When you begin looking for a Puggle, one of the first ways to look for a rescued one in need of a good home is to go to one of the large web sites for pet adoptions, such as Petfinder.com, and search for such terms as pug, beagle, or pug beagle mix. These types of dogs are often listed as "mix" puppies.

To find rescue organizations, you can look for Puggle rescue organizations, of course; you may also want to check pug rescues and beagle rescues. While many breed-specific rescue organizations will not take mixed breeds, some pug and beagle rescues also take this type of breed.

You may also want to check your local animal shelters for pug/beagle mixes, and check your local newspaper's classified ads for beagle/pug mixes. You can often find Puggles being literally given away by people who do not understand what one is or do not appreciate their value.

Because these dogs are unusual dogs they are quite often not recognized as being something really special. Because they are mixed breeds, they do not have papers and are not eligible for AKC registration. And because they are not always what people think they will get, they are often surrendered to rescues or shelters. This makes for real opportunities for those who want to adopt one.

Beagle Dog Training

Beagles were originally bred as hunting dogs; they are scent hounds and do very well at tracking hare, rabbit and game. They are excellent detection dogs and also very popular family pet due to its size, good temper and lack of health problems.

These dogs have been around for about 2000 years. Dogs resembling the Beagle can be traced back to the 5th century BC and they were also used by the Romans. The Talbot hound was bought to Britain by William the Conqueror. This white hound was crossed with the Greyhound giving rise to the Southern Hound, a direct ancestor of the Beagle. Form medieval times it was a generic term used for small hounds including some miniature versions which were owned by Edward II, Henry VII and Elizabeth I.

By the 1700s two hunting breeds had been developed, the Southern Hound and the North Country Beagle. The Southern Hound was tall and heavy set so lacked stamina and was slow but had excellent scenting ability, the North Country Beagle was smaller and lighter and therefore faster but had less developed scenting capabilities.

The modern day version of this dog was developed in Britain around the 1830s by Reverend Philip Honeywood. This original pack was breed solely for hunting and the dogs were smaller than they are today. It was left to Thomas Johnson to develop the breed and produce dogs that were attractive as well as good hunters. Several breeds were involved including the North Country Beagle, Southern Hound and Harrier. There was still much variation in the size of the dogs and it was not until 1890 that the Beagle Club was formed and the first standard was drawn up.

Beagles make excellent Family pets and companions; they are even tempered and good with children and other pets and will adapt to any environment and lifestyle. They do not make good guard dogs as they are easily won over by strangers. The breed is intelligent and eager to please but can be single-minded and determined so training must be consistent and start for an early age. They can lose interest in training and become bored and if they pick up a scent they will be easily distracted. Beagles are not demanding when it comes to exercise but they do have high levels of stamina and do not tire easily. They will happily rest though without exercising to exhaustion.

On average Beagles live to around 12 years old and they have very few inherent health problems. Weight gain can be issue with older or sedentary dogs as they will eat whatever is put in front of them. They can be prone to epilepsy but this can be controlled with medication. There are two unique conditions to the breed; Funny Puppy, which is where the puppy is slow to develop and has weak legs and a crooked back which makes it prone to a range of illnesses; and Chinese Beagle Syndrome where eyes are slanted and outer toes are not developed. The breed sometimes suffers from minor eye and ear infections which can usually be treated or corrected. Field dogs can pick up cut and sprains as well as picking up parasites such as mites, fleas and ticks.

These are the most common breed of dogs used in animal testing due to their size and good nature. In 2005, although Beagles were only used in 0.3% of total animal testing there were still 7406 dogs used. Most of these dogs are bred specifically for this purpose. They come in a range of colours but the most common is tricolour, white, black and brown. The two colour tan and white is also popular. Tricolour onesare normally born black and white with the brown developing later. Some change colour during there lives. The breed has a sleek shorthaired coat which is easy to groom.

Beagles have featured in a wide range of media over the years; they appeared in the writing of Shakespeare, John Dryden, Henry Fielding and Alexander Pope. They have famously appeared in comic strip and animated cartoons with the Peanuts character Snoopy being billed as' the world's most famous Beagle'.

The breed has appeared in many films as well as on TV; they had a central role in Cats and Dogs, as well as appearing in The Royal Tenenbaums, Star Trek: Enterprise, The Wonder Years and East Enders among others.

Barry Manilow's Beagle, Bagel, featured on the cover of some of his albums and former US president Lyndon Johnson famously picked up one of his by the ear during an official greeting on the White House lawn.

Dog breeds are certain types of dogs which have distinctive looks and

temperament. Dog breeds can reveal a lot about the size, appearance, and

personality of a canine. Doing research to find out which dog breed will suit

your personality and lifestyle is essential. Dog breeds are plentiful and you

can always find a reputable dog breeder, but it is important that you

understand the dog breed you are interested in before going to the dog

breeder.

Size should be a factor when deciding on which type of breed would be best

for you. Naturally, if you live in a small house or apartment, a smaller dog

would be better, where as a larger dog would be better suited with a large

yard or out in the country.

There are different dog breed groupings consisting of: The Sporting Dogs...

The Hound Dogs...The Working Dogs...The Terriers...The Toy Group...The Non-

Sporting Dogs.

The Sporting dogs were developed as bird dogs. These include the Pointers,

Retrievers, Setters, Spaniels and others.

The Hound dogs were developed to hunt using sight (sight hounds) or scent (

scent hounds). These include the Beagle, Coonhound, Bloodhound and others.

The Working dogs were developed for a variety of jobs, including guarding

property, guarding livestock, or pulling carts. These include the Alaskan

Malamute, Siberian Husky, Bernese Mountain Dogs and others.

The Terrier dogs were developed mainly to hunt vermin and rodents and to dig

them from their burrows or dens. These come in various sizes, from the small

Cairn Terrier to the large Airedale Terrier.

The Toy dogs are small companion breeds that include the Toy Poodles,

Chihuahua,Toy Spaniels, Miniature Pinscher and others. The Toy Group make up

for their small size with their big personalities. These are well suited for

older or disabled people, because they are easier to look after, as they eat

less and need less exercise. Usually, small dog breeds are just ten inches or

less tall at the shoulder. In most breeds, the male is slightly larger than

the female, but the difference is generally small. This is referred to as

breeding true.

The Non-Sporting dogs that do not fit into any of the other groups, are

usually larger than Toy dogs. These include the Miniature Poodles, Boston

Terrier, Bichon Frises and others.

For those who suffer from allergies, a Hypoallergenic dog is a breed that

might enable them to have a pet in their home. Some dog breeds have been

considered as hypoallergenic, such as the Yorkshire Terrier and the Afghan

Hound whose is the same pH as human hair, therefore, creating no threat. Some

other good breed choices for those who have allergies are the Soft-Coated

Wheaten Terrier...Bichon Frisé...Shih Tzu...Bolognese...Poodle...Barbet...

Portuguese Water Dogs...Schnauzer...Maltese. These dogs shed very little of

their hair. However, they do produce dander, but the amount is so small that

very few people experience allergy symptoms when in contact with these breeds.

However, no canine is known to be completely 100% non allergenic.

Hypoallergenic dog breeds are usually single-coated, non-shedding (or low-

shedding), and generally smaller dogs.

The top 5 dogs registered for 2007 with the AKC are:

* Labrador Retriever

* Yorkshire Terrier

* German Shepherd

* Golden Retriever

* Beagle

Breed types include Hounds, which are bred to hunt and work with humans; Toys,

which are great adult companions; and Terriers, which are excellent dogs for

training.

From cute to tough breeds, toy dogs to working dogs - there are many

different dog breeds for you to choose from.

Labrador Dog Training

Have you considered the type of puppy that you want gamboling around in your home? With so many dog breeds to be found you should see which of these dogs will be very faithful to you. Well this question is easy to answer. The German Shepard puppy can be trained to be not just a companion but to also for the various tasks that you may have.

While you can look at these German Shepard puppies with an idea to buying them you will need to choose your puppy carefully as hereditary breeding has caused health problems. These health problems are hip and elbow dysplasia, digestive problems, epilepsy, chronic eczema, dwarfism, flea allergies and keratitis. To ensure that you are choosing a German Shepard puppy that is free from all of these problems you should contact a breeder who will be able to provide you with a certified assurance of your puppy's health.

The German Shepard puppy is a very intelligent animal. Without any activity to keep the puppy fully occupied you will have on your hands a destructive puppy. This destructive tendency can be reduced if you begin the correct training and handling of the puppy. You should make sure that you are training your puppy with lots of patience, firm but gentle handling and lots of love.

The other breed that is known to be a very friendly animal is Labrador. These gentle yet highly excited puppies are the perfect pets. You will need to think about which type of Labrador puppy that you want to adopt. This is due to the fact that the Labrador breed comes in two different types.

These breeds are the English Labrador and the American Labrador. These two dogs types have different looks which will help you when you are planning to adopt or buy one of these dogs. In the breed of dog itself there are 4 colorations which informs the breeders of what type of puppy that you are looking to add to your family.

These colors which you can find your Labrador puppy in are silver, yellow, chocolate, and black. The usual colors of the Labrador don't include silver, this color has caused controversy among dog breeders. Some of the breeders claim that any Labrador puppy which has a silver coat is a cross with a Weimeriner. Other breeders state that the silver coat is that of a true mutation.

While the Labrador breed was not bred for being a guard dog it does have this capability. You may want to broaden the scope of learning which will influence your puppy when it is a full grown dog. The patience that you show in training your Labrador puppy will help you to have a healthy and very happy puppy.
