My puppy hates being cold so we always put a shirt or sweater on him so he wont be when he goes outside. Well since he is a puppy, he is constantly growing and that mean his clothes are getting smaller. I would like to find a coat for him, not a rain coat, a regular coat.
Adult dog potty training takes a little more time than potty training a puppy but is definitely possible if one knows how to approach it. One of the most important things to know is the fact that older dogs can resist from eliminating up to few hours. This alone gives us an advantage as we can schedule a regular set of meals and thus determine when our pet will need to eliminate. However, because adult dogs have a lot of bad habits already rooted deeply in their brains it will take a bit more patience and consistency to retrain them.
Adult Dog Potty Training Part 1 - The Role Of A Crate
While getting involved into adult dog potty training it is best to purchase a crate which will serve as a new home for your dog. Because dogs are naturally clean animals they will avoid soiling their new home and will have to eliminate outside. Make sure to purchase a wire crate with smooth floor so that it's not only immune to chewing or biting but also comfortable. It has to be big enough for your dog to sit and turn around while being inside but not bigger as your dog might use one of it's corners to eliminate if forced to. Next, put something that reminds the dog of you inside, an old t-shirt serving as a sleeping pad would be perfect.
Adult Dog Potty Training Part 2 - Where Is The Toilet, Boss?
Adult dog potty training will also require you to specify a toilet area somewhere outside. Use a leash attached to a tree to define it's size so that the dog is forced to eliminate within this spot and will stay focused on the task. As soon as he eliminates praise him for doing this and clean the stools. Dogs will not want to relieve themselves in a messy and stinky place so be sure to keep it clean or your pet will eliminate indoors.
Adult Dog Potty Training Part 3 - Use Specific Commands Consistently
Train your dog to react to specific commands. If you see him circling and sniffing around (signs of coming poop) say firmly 'outside' and take your pet to the garden when he can finish the job. While his there repeat 'go poop' or 'go potty'. These commands will allow you to trigger certain reactions in the future and are an extremely important part of adult dog potty training.
Adult Dog Potty Training Part 4 - Why Punishment Leads Nowhere
Don't scream or hit your dog for eliminating indoors. In fact don't punish your dog when you find one of his stools either. Dogs cannot connect the fact that they have eliminated in the past with your present anger. They will get stressed and more confused and think that you don't want them to eliminate at all. A misunderstanding of this kind may result in your dog eating poop in the future (in order to avoid punishment), a problem that many dog owners have to deal with. Instead, clean the mess quietly and praise your dog when he's eliminating outside. Remember positive reinforcement training is much more effective and makes adult dog potty training work faster.
Now, I know how messy it can get when your puppy eliminates on the flooring. It stinks, it's nasty and makes you wanna hit your dog. However, there is a great guide dedicated to solving this problem and you can instantly access it at http://www.IWantToTrainMyDog.info. This is the method I used to stop dog from eliminating indoors and I vouch for it.

Getting a puppy for the family is such a great experience because it creates memories that your children will remember for a lifetime. Because your new puppy is so important to the entire family, it is a good idea to get the whole family involved in the puppy training. It is beneficial for a few different reasons.
The first benefit is that every family member will be able to control the puppy instead of the dog just listening to one person. It also is a great way for the family to bond together and with the puppy. Another reason it is good is because each family member will know the rules when it comes to the dog.
When the whole family is included in puppy training, you are creating a better trained puppy because he is able to listen to more than one person. Because one person in a family will not be solely responsible for watching the pet all day every day, it is important to get your pet accustomed to listening to different people.
If you only involve one person in your pet's training, he most likely will listen only to that person. This is frustrating when a family is involved because the dog is seen as a shared pet. Plus, if the dog listens to one child and not the other your ignored child could become jealous. This can easily be avoided by involving everyone in the puppy training from day one.
Puppy training with the entire family also is a great way to bond with each other and with the new puppy. This is important because a dog really can bring together a family that has split apart because of busy schedules. Also, most family members want to spend as much time as they can with their new family member, so training together will prevent fighting over who spent the most time with the puppy. You all will be able to spend the same amount with him. This training also will create more memories because it was done as a group experience. Now isn't that sweet!
There are a lot of rules that typically are established when a puppy comes into a family. For instance, whether they are allowed on the furniture or whether they can have a certain amount of treats each day. When the entire family is included in the puppy training, you have a better chance of each family member learning and following the rules. This is because they will feel as if they are doing something they should be proud of because they saw how great it was when their puppy learned something new.

Lifting a Puppy or Dog by the back of the neck like a cat.?
You should never lift a dog/puppy by gripping the back of the neck while the legs hang, holding he/she away from the body to move the pet to another area (like a cat) right ?
Where did you hear that ignorance. Ive had to grab full grown labs with two hands by the scruff. FYI - he was attacking another dog. Holding an animal by the scruff is the easiest way for you to get control of them. Cats and dogs alike.
